Pi App Studio now offers a new feature
App Studio remains a product focused on making it easier for non-technical people to build, deploy, and run online apps, but this new feature offers the ability and flexibility to edit apps at the code level.
This update also makes App Studio more useful for technical developers, who can use Pi App Studio to quickly prototype apps and then continue development based on those prototypes. By simplifying Pi integration and app deployment, developers can save time and focus on building their actual products.
Application management
Pi App Studio also introduced other features that make app creation more organized, accessible, and intuitive. These include a new admin interface, new app management options, improvements to the “My Apps” page, general user experience updates, and more.
This is part of an ongoing effort to provide AI-powered tools to pioneers and developers to create applications and utilities in the Pi ecosystem.
Downloading and uploading code
New feature downloading/uploading code represents a step forward for Pi App Studio in connecting the creator and developer experience. Creators can download the source code of apps they’ve built through Pi App Studio, make edits locally, and then re-upload the edited version directly back to App Studio. Creators can then continue to make further revisions using App Studio. This opens up deeper creative control – whether it’s tweaking features, personalizing the user interface, or anything else.
Flexibility
This flexibility enables hybrid development workflows: creators can use Pi App Studio’s built-in tools to build apps without the need for technical input, and then revise them in other development environments as they bring in additional technical collaborators or learn to code themselves. For example, a creator can build an app through Pi App Studio, export the code to fine-tune a specific feature or add specific designs that can be developed outside of App Studio, and then re-upload the completed version back to Pi App Studio to continue their creation in a non-technical way—all while maintaining compatibility with the Pi ecosystem.
Export / Import code
The ability to download/upload code also extends the utility of Pi App Studio for technical developers. Developers can use App Studio to prototype an app and export the code outside of App Studio to continue further development. They can also upload existing app code with certain compatibility requirements to App Studio to benefit from App Studio’s capabilities and the ease of integrating and deploying Pi apps into the Pi ecosystem. Either path would allow developers to focus on building their product rather than logistics—which would speed up the overall pace of Pi app development and deployment in the ecosystem.
Together, these features make Pi App Studio a versatile platform for Pi app creation and development, enabling pioneers and developers to scale app creation and deployment in ways that go beyond templates, creating custom tools of their own that integrate seamlessly with the entire Pi ecosystem.
Check out the demo features and see how it works:
Application management interface
Creators have access to administration page of their individual apps. This includes general app editing and sharing capabilities, as well as new features such as allowing creators to:
- Upload preview images for describing the application in the ecosystem interface in the Pi browser or PiNet, which will help creators better present their applications and attract more users;
- Share link to your applications with the application logo as a thumbnail in Fireside Forum Pi App Studio channelThis will help promote the presence of their apps in the community and gain user acceptance.
- Delete the application, which creators couldn't do before, allows them to keep their creator interface clean, organized, and up-to-date.

My Apps page improvements
Sorting and searching
The My Apps page now includes options sorting a search , which help creators easily find and manage apps as they create other projects.

Scroll menu
Apps on the My Apps page have drop-down menu , which allows creators to rename, manage, or delete the app.

General updates
- Creators can choose how many Pi units they want to add (up to 100 Pi units) for use in Pi App Studio. This improves the creation experience, as previously only one Pi unit could be loaded at a time.
- Limit for creating applications has been increased from 10 to 100, allowing for more iterations, creativity, and diverse tools.
- Total UI improvements and improved user experience design, interface and user experience App Studio. For example, creators can now properly edit chatbots after customizing an app with Pi AI, which was previously disabled.
Create and use Pi App Studio apps!
Pioneers are encouraged to create apps through the Pi App Studio, which can be accessed in the Pi browser or in Pi Desktop application.
With guided AI-powered app creation workflows and a new code download/upload feature, makers of any technical level can use App Studio to build and deploy real-world apps and products across the Pi ecosystem. To explore App Studio apps that the community has already deployed, Pioneers can go to the Pi Apps tab in the Pi Browser and click the App Studio button.
